Pilates: Honoring My Mentors, Making It My Own
A Journey of Application & Inspiration

📘 WORKSHOP HOMEWORK: Mentorship in Action

Please complete the following exercises after the workshop. These are designed to help you embody and apply what you’ve learned in a meaningful, personal way.

1. Mentor Map
Create a short list (1–3 names) of people you consider mentors—past, present, or aspirational. For each one, reflect on the following:

  • What do I admire or seek in this person’s teaching?

  • How might I access or study from them more deeply (directly or indirectly)?

  • What part of my teaching could grow through this influence?

2. Integration Exercise
Choose one expression, cue, or principle you learned in the workshop. Apply it this week in your own teaching or personal practice. Then, briefly reflect:

  • What impact did it have?

  • What felt aligned? What didn’t?

  • How might I adapt or refine it to match my voice?

Self & Source

  • What areas of your teaching do you feel need the most refinement, growth, or attention right now?

  • If you were to ask your mentor (past or present) this same question about your teaching—what do you think they would say?

  • Where do your answer and theirs align? Where might they differ—and why?

→ This reflection is designed to bridge your inner knowing with the external wisdom of those who have guided you. Consider how this dual perspective can shape your next steps with humility, clarity, and purpose.

3. Legacy Letter
Write a short letter to your future students—or your future self. Answer this:

  • What do I most hope to pass on through my teaching?

  • How do I want to be remembered in this work?

  • What kind of experience do I want to create for others in my space?

Journal Prompt

How do you see yourself carrying forward the legacy of Pilates in your own teaching?
What words, actions, or choices can you make to help create a community where this work continues to grow and thrive?
