How to Modulate your Voice

1. Start reading a book out loud in a high pitch. Pick specific words in a sentence to pronounce in a low tone. For example, in the sentence, "It has now become important that you work harder so you can pay your bills," pronounce the words "important," "work harder" and "pay your bills" in a low tone. This voice modulation creates a sense of authority in the words.

2. Continue reading out loud, but this time, begin your pitch downward and low. Pick specific words in a sentence to pronounce in a high tone. For example, in the sentence, "I was wondering if you would like to maybe come by tomorrow," pronounce the words "wondering," "like" and "tomorrow" in a high tone. This voice modulation creates a sense of engagement in your words.

3. Continue reading out loud with your voice in its everyday tone. Pick a sentence and exaggerate chosen words in the sentence. For example, "You were never there for me, you never do things that I like and I have never been so insulted in my entire life." Exaggerate the words "never" and "entire." This voice modulation creates a "getting your point across" feeling with your words.

4. Practice picking out specific words to modulate in a sentence. When reading a sentence, you will find that you naturally stress certain words. Change the frequency of your voice to emphasize those words while reading the sentences. This creates more meaning to what you say. As you continue to practice voice modulation, this will become easier.
